On December 19, 2024, the award ceremony of the 6th \u201cMy China Story\u201d International Short Video Competition<\/a> was held in Harbin. The micro-documentary Junayde\u2019s Kung Fu Dream<\/em>, submitted by the Eutopia Arthouse Film Festival (EAFF) Committee, won the Best Video Award. As a key part of the ceremony, the event hosts organized the “Short Videos & We-Media” Roundtable Talk: Promoting Personal IP in the Short Videos Era<\/strong>, with participation from the EAFF committee. EAFF committee members Tianpeng Yao, Vikki Hanling Cao, and Xun Hu attended the event, with Tianpeng delivering a speech during the session.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

It is reported that this year\u2019s competition received a total of 59,559 submissions from over 130 countries and regions across five continents. After three rounds of evaluation by more than 30 domestic and international experts in media, film, the internet, and international communication, 112 winning entries were selected.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The film\u2019s director, Tianpeng Yao, was invited to participate in a symposium titled “Short Videos & We-Media” Roundtable Talk: Promoting Personal IP in the Short Videos Era<\/strong>, organized by the event\u2019s hosts. Tianpeng emphasized the importance of addressing the \u201ccultural discount\u201d issue when engaging in international communication with audiovisual works and personal brands that feature national characteristics. He advocated aligning with the aesthetic preferences and cultural understanding of international audiences to minimize comprehension barriers and enhance the acceptance of such works.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At the same time, Tianpeng highlighted the need to skillfully depict universal emotions and human experiences through visuals and storytelling, allowing audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds to empathize and resonate, thereby breaking through cultural barriers and enhancing the appeal of the works. Furthermore, Tianpeng stressed that for traditional culture to achieve broader dissemination and preservation, it requires an infusion of fresh perspectives. By employing innovative audiovisual techniques to present the core spirit of traditional culture in modern ways, creators can not only captivate younger audiences but also help international viewers intuitively appreciate its charm, thus achieving cross-cultural communication and the reinvention of traditional culture.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Established in 2018, the \u201cChina in the Eyes of Foreigners\u201d International Short Video Competition invites submissions of multilingual and multi-format short videos on Chinese themes from creators around the world. The competition aims to showcase the unique perspectives of foreigners observing China, document their fascinating experiences in the country, and gather compelling Chinese stories scattered across the globe, presenting a vision of mutual understanding between China and the world.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
