{"id":302,"date":"2016-09-20T11:00:54","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T11:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/erin\/?p=302"},"modified":"2016-09-20T11:00:54","modified_gmt":"2016-09-20T11:00:54","slug":"moore-sources-at-the-bnf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/erin\/2016\/09\/20\/moore-sources-at-the-bnf\/","title":{"rendered":"Moore sources at the BnF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BnF does not possess a dedicated \u2018Moore Collection\u2019, however the following music sources are extant in the Music Department, 2 rue Louvois: one copy each of Numbers 1 to 8 of the Irish Melodies, J. Power editions and one copy of each of the following individual songs all W. Power editions: Oh breathe not his name, The meeting of the waters, Oh for the swords of former time, No not more welcome and Eveleen\u2019s Bower. Over fifty sources for arrangements and works inspired by Moore are also extant in the library (Louvois and Op\u00e9ra sites). These include early printed editions of Berlioz\u2019s Neuf M\u00e9lodies, selections from F\u00e9licien David\u2019s two act op\u00e9ra-comique Lalla Rouk arranged for voice with piano accompaniment and seven copies (including some duplicates) of The last rose of summer. Six of the extant arrangements of The last rose are for piano and are by the following composers: Mendelssohn, Sigismund Thalberg, Henri Cramer and Joseph Ascher. The single song arrangement extant in the collection is by Mme. Caroline Eug\u00e9nie who is accredited with both the words and music for this arrangement.
