Taking the First Step Towards the Rest of Your Life…
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “is this it?” We graduate, get a job to start paying back our loans, have a wee drink at the weekend, and continue this way for the rest of forever?
You follow ultra-successful people on social media. Those who have become famous overnight after a stint on Love Island, those who you know are super rich and successful but don’t even really know how or why, and those who you see driving around in supercars and talking about the “daily grind” after starting up their own business at 23. Have you ever wondered, “why can’t that be me?”
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Chinese Proverb
You’ve heard that one right? And you’re sucked in for a minute or two feeling inspired, thinking about how you’re going to pursue your dreams, starting now. Starting right this minute. And then reality hits you and you’re right back in the office or the classroom getting on with your day. You put it to the back of your mind thinking “where would I even start?”
We get it. “A single step” seems all very well and simple until you start thinking, what even is that first step? And how do I take it?
The good news? We have the answer. Applications for our ‘What’s the Big Idea?’ competition are now open.
If you have a business idea that you think could be the next big thing, why not take the first step into starting your ‘daily grind’ and making those supercar dreams a reality. Why can’t that be you?
Here’s what you gotta do:
- Visit our dedicated webpage and download an application form.
- Fill it out to the best of your ability, telling us about that business idea and why you think it could make it BIG
- Save the application and send it to enterprisesu@qub.ac.uk before midnight on the 20th of November
- Mark out Wednesday 2nd December from 1.30-3.30pm in your calendars to see if you have won a share of a £2800 prize pot
- Supercar time
If you’d like to have a chat about your business idea before submitting an application, feel free to book in an appointment with the team by emailing enterprisesu@qub.ac.uk and letting us know you want to book a 121.
Good luck!
