There is no \u2018one-size-fits-all\u2019 solution that is likely to work across the university and further discussions are encouraged at School &amp; Faculty level to agree how best to support your PGR students in a considered way.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e4eaeee e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e4eaeee\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7b54e22 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7b54e22\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Finding the right fit<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4ed1ada elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4ed1ada\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>No technical barriers were identified to any of the solutions demonstrated. Given the feedback and the tools demonstrated, it has been acknowledged that a \u2018one-size-fits-all\u2019 approach is unlikely to work across schools and faculties with different needs.<\/p><p>When researching the right tool for the provision PG support within a school or faculty, it is important to consider the following:<\/p><ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/directorates\/InformationServices\/Services\/EmailandCalendars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Email<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is the official communication method at Queen\u2019s.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/directorates\/AcademicStudentAffairs\/StudentServicesSystems\/Qsis\/QsisServices\/QsisforAcademics\/QsisforInstructorsAdvisors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Qsis<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0allows for the recording of formal meetings (eg. APRs), the submission of \u2018intention to submit\u2019, and mandatory training requirements.<ul><li>Staff can create PGR modules within Qsis.<\/li><li>Note that Canvas does not populate student activity records in QSIS, no future plans to.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/digitallearning\/staff\/digital-teaching\/qub-digital-tools\/turnitin-within-canvas\/\"><strong>Turnitin<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is currently required to verify academic integrity of PGR submissions<ul><li>Further discussions are required regarding student access and interpretation of institutional regulations.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Consider\u00a0<strong>signposting \/ utilising<\/strong>\u00a0PGR-specific resources that already exist, such as content produced by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/graduate-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Graduate School<\/strong><\/a>, for example.<ul><li>It is important to minimise content duplication, consider version control of documents and avoid students having conflicting information.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>In general, consider\u00a0<strong>how resource creation impacts<\/strong>:<ul><li>Holistic student experience and demand<\/li><li>Teaching, learning and assessment methods<\/li><li>Resources required to develop and maintain output.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>When considering\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.qub.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Canvas<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to enhance PGR Experience:<ul><li>Staff should be familiar with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/VLEMinimumStandards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canvas Minimum Standards<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for taught modules (CED) \u2013 these could be tailored and applied to PGR modules<\/li><li>Canvas functionality is limited when facilitating interactive, collaborative and\/or synchronous activity.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e40294b e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e40294b\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc01d46 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"fc01d46\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-34e36a5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-hub_fancy_heading\" data-id=\"34e36a5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"hub_fancy_heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"ld-fancy-heading-69f3b4a74b70c\" class=\"ld-fancy-heading pos-rel\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"ld-fh-element d-inline-block pos-rel  elementor-heading-title lqd-highlight-custom lqd-highlight-custom-2 h2\"  > Solutions Showcase<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1952ef7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1952ef7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The following tools and practices were presented to demonstrate possible solutions for the provision of PGR student support: Canvas, SharePoint, and MS365 tools.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bbc22ee elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-ld_accordion\" data-id=\"bbc22ee\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"ld_accordion.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion accordion-title-bordered accordion-md accordion-side-spacing accordion-title-bg-transparent accordion-title-circle accordion-expander-left accordion-active-has-fill\" id=\"accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" role=\"tablist\" aria-multiselectable=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item panel \">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading-1961\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"accordion-title  tabindex=\"-1\">\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"collapsed\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                    tabindex=\"0\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" href=\"#collapse-1961\" data-target=\"#collapse-1961\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-1961\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-1961\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-expander\"><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-add\"><\/i><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-remove\"><\/i><\/span>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-title-txt\">Canvas - (MDBS School-Wide PGR Courses)<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"collapse-1961\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse \" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-1961\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) provide\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.qub.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canvas<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0modules to support PGR students.<\/p><ul><li>Previously comprising 15 training modules, these were amalgamated into 1 module for all PG students, and one training module for all PGR students.<\/li><li>This support makes use of various features and practices within Canvas, including:<ul><li>Canvas assignments for mandatory literature reviews<\/li><li>An emphasis on accessibility, aiming for 80% minimum score<\/li><li>Group functionality employed to organize PGRs into academic years groups \u2013 this is convenient for consolidating material and communicating via Canvas inbox and announcement tools<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Some limitations of Canvas were acknowledged, including its unsuitability for interactive collaborative activities<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item panel \">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading-1962\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"accordion-title  tabindex=\"-1\">\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"collapsed\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                    tabindex=\"0\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" href=\"#collapse-1962\" data-target=\"#collapse-1962\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-1962\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-1962\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-expander\"><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-add\"><\/i><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-remove\"><\/i><\/span>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-title-txt\">SharePoint \u2013 (School of Nursing &amp; Midwifery Student Hub)<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"collapse-1962\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse \" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-1962\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/qubstudentcloud.sharepoint.com\/sites\/stu-snam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>SNAM Student Hub<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is a student-led initiative for hosting and sharing information with students. The hub emphasises accessibility, a culture of content creation, sustainability, scalability, inclusivity and representation.<\/p><ul><li>The hub aims to address previous challenges in hosting\/sharing information with students, including document version control, unorganised content and conflicting communications channels.<\/li><li>SharePoint was considered more suitable than Canvas, and provides the following advantages:<ul><li>A flexible user-friendly experience more resembling a website than a VLE<\/li><li>A platform for sharing links rather than documents through the creation of a learning zone, ensuring sustainability, reduced printing and minimizing resource duplication<\/li><li>Facilitation of question collection through accessible forms<\/li><li>Scalability via audience targeting functionality to improve user experience, which will be explored further.<\/li><li>Teams can have autonomy over their own content<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Hub provides a one-stop-shop solution for students, and a weekly digest is provided via their Outlook account. Feedback has been positive, and has highlighted the following benefits:<ul><li>Students have found that information is easily accessible<\/li><li>The consolidation of information has led to a reduction of queries to academic and support staff<\/li><li>The creation and management of the hub has been straightforward, with no specialised skills require.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item panel \">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-heading\" role=\"tab\" id=\"heading-1963\">\n\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"accordion-title  tabindex=\"-1\">\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"collapsed\" role=\"button\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                    tabindex=\"0\"\n\t\t\t\t\tdata-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" href=\"#collapse-1963\" data-target=\"#collapse-1963\" data-bs-target=\"#collapse-1963\"\n\t\t\t\t\taria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse-1963\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-expander\"><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-add\"><\/i><i class=\"lqd-icn-ess icon-ion-ios-remove\"><\/i><\/span>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"accordion-title-txt\">Microsoft 365 tools \u2013 (The Graduate School)<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t<div id=\"collapse-1963\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse \" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69f3b4a751a01\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"heading-1963\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Graduate School has made use of the functionality of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/directorates\/InformationServices\/Services\/Office365Queens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft 365<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0tools to provide support for PG students. Canvas \u2018Free for Teachers\u2019 was originally deployed, but lacked insisutional support and integrations such as QSIS for course provisioning, Turnitin, and Blackboard Ally accessibility tools.<\/p><p>To meet their requirements, the Graduate School decided to create new \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/create-a-class-team-in-microsoft-teams-fae422eb-58b7-4431-9ff2-a4b9b6ae7c5b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Class Team<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 in\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/directorates\/InformationServices\/Services\/Office365Queens\/DataStorage\/Teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MS Teams<\/a><\/strong>. Canvas Minimum Standards<\/li><li><strong>QSIS\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 PGR module creation eg.
