Its potential for innovation and creativity should be explored in tandem with a careful and critical approach. This page reflects this balanced view by identifying AI-driven tools to support different stages of the research process, alongside internal and external guidelines on the responsible use of AI for research.<\/p><p>AI applications, when used responsibly and ethically, can assist researchers in the four stages of the research process: (a) conception and execution, (b) dissemination, (c) translation, and (d) funding and compliance (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cac.cornell.edu\/about\/pubs\/Generative%20AI%20in%20Research%20Dec2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cornell University, 2023<\/a><\/strong>). AI tools may also improve researchers\u2019 time efficiency by optimising administrative tasks, enhancing information processing, and freeing up time for meaning engagement (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qaa.ac.uk\/docs\/qaa\/news\/quality-compass-navigating-the-complexities-of-the-artificial-intelligence-era-in-higher-education.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">QAA, 2023<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p><p>The use of AI tools should align with the University\u2019s Code of Conduct and Integrity in Research (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/Research\/Governance-ethics-and-integrity\/FileStore\/Filetoupload,1791793,en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>QUB, 2024<\/strong><\/a>), as well as abide by funders and external organisations\u2019 regulations (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/european-research-area.ec.europa.eu\/news\/living-guidelines-responsible-use-generative-ai-research-published\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"https:\/\/european-research-area.ec.europa.eu\/news\/living-guidelines-responsible-use-generative-ai-research-published\">European Commission, 2024<\/a><\/strong>).
