What is Student Plus?
Student Plus is comprised of five individual business units:
The Student Plus Central Office is located on the Ground Floor of Lanyon North. You can see Student Plus offers a range of services. Not all the services may be a priority to you now but priorities change. It’s good to know where and how you can access them.
The student experience is at the heart of our business, providing solutions to student needs, based on their lifestyles, and helping them contribute, grow and develop academically, all within a welcoming and inclusive community.

It’s always good to get to know the key contacts as well. You can access the Student Plus Key Contacts page to meet the team.
Accommodation
If you are applying to Queen’s University for a course starting in January or September 2022, do think about Queen’s accommodation. Queen’s have a number of accommodation options at sites for students.

But don’t take our word for it, why not hear some reasons other students choose Queen’s accommodation over private accommodation: 6 Reasons Why Queen’s accommodation beats renting privately.
On the Queen’s Accommodation page, you will find advice on the latest Travel and Guidance. There are short-term accommodation options for current students for up to 7 days. And if you have recently graduated and are attending your Graduation ceremony with family or friends, there’s some accommodation options there also. Do check out the Accommodation page for Short-Term Accommodation for Current Students and Graduation at Queen’s – Why not Spend Some Quality Time in Belfast to Celebrate.
So if you are coming to Queen’s, remember to apply for accommodation. Here’s our How to Apply page. There are considerations such as your lifestyle options, room type, costs and special requirements. Again, you can find out more information on this page. Including what to bring when you’re moving in.
If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for on the main information pages, do check out the Accommodation FAQs. Here’s some other Useful Information too!
Campus Food & Drink
Campus Food and Drink are proud to use the finest local produce to deliver catering across the University. Nine cafes across Campus offer a variety of quality products for students, staff and visitors. Please contact us if you have any queries or feedback.
Brian Horgan – Head of Campus Food and Drink
The Queen’s Campus Food & Drink page helpfully details the different retail outlets on campus, delivered hospitality, event hospitality and markets. Experiencing the different food and drink on campus is a nice way to experience foods from around the world and it’s social.

As students, you’ll be most interested in the retail outlets across Queen’s, Cafe opening times and other eateries. You can find out a lot on the Retails Outlet page. And of course, Queen’s have an Easy Pay option which offers a flexible hospitality. This flexible system makes it easier for students to pay for meals in on-campus retail outlets.
You can pay by your Student Card (smart card). Students have the flexibility and choice to buy as much or as little as required on-campus and the benefits are:
- No need to carry money
- It’s a faster payment method
- The smart card account can be topped up from home by parent/guardian
Adding Funds to your student card
Log-in to Queen’s Online, http://login.qol.qub.ac.uk using the student number and password which has recently been sent to you. Select ‘My Smart Card’ and follow the prompts to add money to your catering purse.

The sports section of Queen’s is very informative. We feel that an individuals interest in sport and fitness is personal and instead of us highlighting a few services, it would be best you explore the Queen’s Sports pages with your interests in mind. There are a few Apps available: My Wellness and The Queen’s Sports App.
Needless to say, there are a number of membership options for students, the public, graduates and staff. There are a number of sporting activities available also: Fitness Plus, Personal Training, Swimming, Physiotherapy, and many more options. Please do check through the Queen’s Sport section for more information.
We realize this weeks blog post can take you into some quite big areas. The Student Plus section is a mix of various Queen’s services and you might need them all at some point and perhaps not just right now.
