{"id":14,"date":"2020-12-07T16:52:15","date_gmt":"2020-12-07T16:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/cdrgmodlangsqub\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2025-04-02T11:31:43","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T10:31:43","slug":"research-initiation-scheme","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.qub.ac.uk\/cdrgmodlangsqub\/research-initiation-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Research initiation scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In December 2018, the Modern Languages Core Disciplinary Research Group won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qub.ac.uk\/schools\/ael\/News\/NewsArchive\/NewsArchive2018\/ModernLanguageswintheViceChancellorsResearchCultureprize2018.html\">QUB Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Research Culture Prize<\/a>. Its allocated 5-year funding will allow us to support different research initiatives benefiting our wide research community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of our aims is to integrate our final year students into our Modern Languages research culture involving staff and PG students. For this reason, we are running a &#8216;Research Initiation&#8217; scheme which offers small grants to final-year QUB Modern Languages undergraduates (in Irish, French, Spanish, and Portuguese) who will attend cultural\/research events organised under the CDRG umbrella as well as interviewing current\/past postgraduate research\/Masters of Research students in Modern Languages about their research. Successful applicants to the scheme are required to prepare blog entries about each event attended\/interview undertaken, which will be posted on this blog.
