International Commendation for Young Irish Architectural Practice

Steve Larkin Architects are highly commended in the International AR House Award 2012.

House at Bogwest, Co. Wexford by the young Irish architectural practice Steve Larkin Architects is one of five international projects to be highly commended in the AR House Award 2012. AR House Award, run by the Architectural Review and sponsored by Laufen, is a major international award that recognizes innovation and excellence in house design. The only Irish project to make the final shortlist was described by the jury comprised of Catherine Slessor (chair), Peter Salter, Brian Mackay-Lyons and Sophia von Ellrichshausen, as a “highly impressive and convincing project”.

The award ceremony and exhibition opening will take place in London on Tuesday 26th June 2012. This years overall winner is John Lin, Dept of Architecture, University of Hong Kong for a house in the Shaanxi Province, China.  The other Highly Commended projects are in Japan, Australia and Spain.

Steve Larkin is a musician and architect. He graduated from UCD in 2002 and became a member of the Royal Institute of Architects in 2005. He established Steve Larkin Architects in 2007. He teaches design studio in the School of Architecture at Queens University Belfast and the School of Architecture at Dublin Institute of Technology.
