McClay Library: Opening Hours: Overnight + Christmas Holidays

24-Hour Opening 

The McClay Library will remain open overnight from Sunday morning till Friday night between 04 and 16 December 2016, and again from 03 till 23 January 2017. During these five weeks, study facilities on the upper floors will be available until 2 o’clock in the morning. There is no change to the staffed service hours. Christmas and New Year Opening

On the weekend before Christmas, the Library will open at the normal time of 10:00 on Saturdays and 12:00 on Sundays and close at 2 o’clock the following mornings.

From Monday 19 till Friday 23 December the Library will open at 08:00 as normal but will close at 20:30 except on Friday when it will close at 17:30 for Christmas.

The Library will be closed from Saturday 24 till Tuesday 27 December inclusive.

The Library will offer exceptional opening, primarily to facilitate students studying for exams, for five days when the University is closed.

From Wednesday 28 till Friday 30 December the Library will open at 09:00 and close at 21:00. In addition to providing study access, a limited staffed service will be available on those three days from 09:00 till 17:00.

The Library will also open for studying on Saturday 31 December and Monday 02 January from 09:00 till 21:00. On these dates there will be no staffed services available.

Overnight opening resumes from 08:00 on Tuesday 03 January.

Access to the Library

Library members and visitors must have a valid card to obtain admission. During this busy period, additional identification checks will be in place.

Students studying at other Universities who wish to use the Library for reference purposes during the Christmas period should apply well in advance by completing the Student Vacation Access Registration Form  To ensure that you receive your pass in time, applications must be submitted before Monday 19 December.
