New Library Update – 20th July 2009

new-tower1The Main Library and the Science Library are now closed, but all members of the library may use the Seamus Heaney Library throughout the summer. It is open from 8.30am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday during July but please note that the issue desk and the SCCs close at 5.00pm. The Seamus Heaney Library is also open on Saturday mornings from 9.00am until 12.30pm. The Medical, Biomedical and AFBI libraries are open as usual.
Until the new library opens you will be able to access the material which was held in the Main and Science Libraries using a request service . You will be able to collect this material from the Seamus Heaney Library but please allow a couple of working days. You can check if the item has arrived by phoning the Heaney on 9097 3966.
If you wish to consult Special Collections material you should email specialcollections@qub.ac.uk.

As the book move has now been completed successfully, we plan to open the new Library to staff and students well ahead of schedule from 8.30am on Monday 27 July. While all the stock is in place, many other facilities will only become available gradually during August so your patience is requested. Access to stock (apart from Seamus Heaney Library items) and a loan service will be available, but the PCs and wireless network are not yet operational. A lot of work remains to be done but we are well on track to meet the 7 September target date for full service availability and commencement of advertised opening hours. Between 27 July and Friday 4 September, the new Library will open 8.30am-5.30pm Monday-Friday.

If you have any questions about the move, please contact the New Library Migration Helpdesk on 028 9097 6346 or email newlibrary@qub.ac.uk You can also follow progress on the new Library website and Twitter.
